On the road again!

This week we loaded up Possum (our travel trailer) and headed north. Florida is a very long state, so on day one we only reached the Georgia-Florida line, camping for the night at Fort Clinch State Park in Fernandina beach on the northern end of Amelia Island in Florida. While it is possible to find sharks teeth on the beach there, we struck out. We did have an awesome sunset and a nice morning walk on the beach before heading back onto Route 95 north.

Our second stop was a KOA in Yemassee, South Carolina. Convenient (just two minutes off of 95) but we never stay at KOAs and I was not expecting much. It turned out to be a great choice. Meticulous, friendly and they had a bar serving beer, wine, pizza and wings! We even had leftovers.

Thursday morning we were back on 95 heading north into South Carolina. We spent two nights at Chester State Park in (you guessed it) Chester SC. We had a view of the lake from our site and it was nice and quiet until the Labor Day weekenders began to arrive on Friday afternoon. We still enjoyed kayaking and hiking before resuming our trip north on Saturday. One more stop and we will be at our most northward destination. You will have to wait until next week to find out where that is.

The lake at Chester State Park. We kayaked around the entire perimeter. About 2.5 miles. All of the photos below were taken at the park. Remember you can click on a photo to view it full screen.
