Mission accomplished!
One of our goals on this trip to Summersville Lake (Mt. Nebo, West Virginia) was to get good photos of the crayfish and snails we discovered last year while snorkeling in the lake. Armed with a better camera, and despite the somewhat murky conditions, I was successful. I am not sure of the exact species, but definitely crayfish and ramshorn snails. Virile Crayfish (I think), Summersville Lake
Summersville Lake Lighthouse
One of the unique features of Summersville Lake Retreat, where we camped this week, is its lighthouse. It was constructed from a damaged wind turbine support with the help many different members from the local community. It is totally functional and can be climbed by those with more energy than me. This year, the moon rise made for some fun photography. To learn more about the lighthouse, click here.
We also spent some time hiking both at Tanglewood Park earlier in the week, and here at Summersville Lake between snorkel expeditions. Here are a few of the other sights and critters from this week’s adventures.
