La dolce vita!
Our week in the Keys was picture perfect. Dry, sunny and breezy with clear and relatively calm water. Probably our best Keys trip yet. One of the primary reasons for camping at John Pennekamp SP is it’s close proximity to diving at Rowell’s Park, a small critter, muck diving heaven. Although the somewhat cool water temps reduced the number of critters, I still managed to add three new species to my list. And, I got to meet one of my Facebook friends in person. We also kayaked from Pennekamp and snorkeled in the mangroves. Hundreds if not thousands of Upside-down Jellies. A wonderful time was had by all!
One of the stars of the show at Rowell’s is the Lettuce Sea Slug (Elysia crispata). They are there in abundance, in a variety of colors, in sizes big and small. All of these are in the 1”-2” range
The three new to me species were the Fringed Pipefish (Anarchopterus criniger), the Nippled Palisa nudibranch (Palisa papillata) and the Button Snail (Modulus modulus).
