Thirteen nudibranch species . . .
and a slug. That is what I counted across three dives at Blue Heron Bridge (Riviera Beach, Florida). While most of the nudis were fairly common, there were a couple that I have not photographed very often including this stunner, Janolus flavoanulatus (about the size of a dime). This is a cropped in version looking eye-to-eye. Well, eye to rhinophore to be more exact.
Conditions were really nice this week and I managed to fit in three dives. Below are a few more of my favorite photos. The Warty Sidegill Slug was the biggest I have ever seen - about 4”. All of the nudibranchs pictured below, except the Janolus, are on the 1/4” to 3/4” scale and the fish were 1” - 1 1/4”. Remember, you can click on an image to view it full screen.
