Frolicking frog?

Well, maybe just foraging for bugs.

This guy was on our front porch just about every evening this week. He is a Cuban Tree Frog (Osteopilus septentrionalis), an invasive species, although not newly so. They have been around for about 100 years. I am pretty sure they are here to stay. Unfortunately they compete with native frogs for food and habitat. In any case, it is a sure sign that spring is here.

A few more pictures from this week around the ‘hood. There was a nearby brush fire on Tuesday that made for a fiery orange sunrise. Wednesday involved a dive at Blue Heron Bridge. The first Juvenile Highhat picter is not the best, but I was amazed to get all three of the rice grain sized fish in a single shot! As always, click on an image to view it full screen.
